TEMPLAR CONVENT September 22 to 26, 2010
GREETINGS: To all the Knights and Dames of the Order of the Templars: The Templars of the Priories of the Ascension of Our Lord, Windsor and of St James, Toronto and the Commanderie of Simon Peter are excited to be hosting the 2010 Convent. Toronto, the host city, was given its name from the Huron Indian word for ‘meeting place’. Located on a naturally protected harbour, the area was first a meeting place for the peoples of the First Nations, later the French traders, then European settlers, refugees of the Revolutionary War of Independence and waves of immigrants who continue to this day. In 2010 we are inviting you to come and meet with us in our ancient “meeting place”. The theme of this Convent is A FAIR OF TALENTS: Getting to Know You. Canadian Templars believe that we know far too little about each other and the mark bering made by our brothers and sisters throughout the world. Through this Convent, we hope to bring together and share the talents and accomplishments of the Templars. We are confident that knowledge of what we are doing collectively will truly strengthen our beloved Order and will make all of us more effective world-wide. The programme, displays and events have been designed to showcase our common fields of interest. For those priories who would like to participate in the programmes and displays, please contact the Prior of the Toronto Priory of St. James at ncrewe@mtsinai.on.ca and we will endeavour to arrange suitable space for displays or presentations.
